Inspired by the natural world from a very young age between Long Island and Vermont, Deborah channeled her inspiration into environmental activism and ultimately a career as an environmental professional in the Hudson Valley and Catskills. For over two decades she has helped develop environmental policies for clean water, clean air, protecting open spaces and making sure the public has a voice. A longing for artistic expression has recently led her to the canvas and to watercolor.

The ephemeral qualities of watercolor are both exciting and challenging to her, and have taken her to new places of inspiration along the Hudson, in the mountains, on Cape Cod, and in Italy. Deborah seeks to capture the energy of moving skies, flowing water, and pastoral landscapes in her paintings. She has been studying with Betsy Jacaruso and has found painting to be a great creative practice and source of joy.

Today from her perch as Executive Director of the Rondout Valley Growers Association, Deborah draws new artistic inspiration from the agricultural landscapes of the Rondout Valley and the farmers who work that fertile land.
